Girls: its for Yooo Hooo!

Just suppose the human race were being observed by friendly aliens, just waiting for the one last criteria to be fullfilled before starting 'intervention', what do you suppose this earth-shattering event would be. Would it be the discovery of desktop Nuclear fission, true, workableAntiGravity, or would it be the SMS-Fired Bluetooth Vibrator?

Well quite obviously the latter...prepare for a visit from the Grays any day now.....

How good can life get...3.30am

I have just managed to get home after a British Rail train dumped me, and three others, at East Croydon station, three minutes late for our connecting train to Brighton. But they didn't leave us there, shivering, sharing the last of the cigarettes..oh no. A guy known only as 'Dex' not only herded the four of us onto a platform, but phoned through to Three Bridges and organised a mini-cab for us the 20+mile back to Brighton Station. At no time in my life have I experienced a better Customer Service than tonight.

iPod Nano 200Gb Hack

It didn't take long for someone to get the soldering iron out and hack the iPod Nano to a more reasonable storage capacity. Once the domain of propellor-hatted geeks, Hardware mash-up projects have become more accessible year on year, and where they are going is hard for anyone to say.

Hard to predict, but not impossible. I can see in the not too distant future the ordinary man on the street having the ability to tinker with home computers, HiFi components, even making basic changes to their own car, all without the help and assistance of specially trained technicians or engineers.

Many thanks to Frasch for this tip, keep an eye out for the next logical step, a 19" screen upgrade....

Heavy handed...

If a picture paints a thousand words then Uzi Nissan's webpage dunks a Hurst-like Calf into Nissan Motor Co's Tank of Formaldehyde. If all aspects of this case are as they seem, then the stupidity of the aforementioned car manufacturer beggars belief. How much is this bad publicity costing them? Actually, if you take a peek at some of the other dubious activities they appear to have been involved in (allegedly), it is not so surprising!

Silicon Heaven

Although (to my knowledge) the phrase Silicon Heaven was first used in a magnificent Grant & Naylor show Red Dwarf, the Internet Archive: CLASP is doing a fine job of trying to make one here on earth.

I have spoken to a number of people in the past on this subject, not least Pete and Andy Hood of AKQA when last in New York, but to be honest, I've never really had a bit of a dig about to see what was out there.

I'm glad I did, because not only does this offer some hope for those mini-masterpieces created by true pioneers, but they are part of Archive.Org, which has groovy features like the WayBackMachine (ever wondered what the Microsoft site looked like back in '96 when the didn't really believe in the Internet?!) and a real mother-lode of music and audio files. I just did a search for 'Hollingsworth' and ended up listening to the excellent Phil Lesh and Friends.

I apologise, I appear to be a little linky tonight!
