We HAVE to keep perspective...

The report on today included the worrying paragraph: "'They pushed him onto the floor and unloaded five shots into him. He's dead,' witness Mark Whitby told the BBC. 'He looked like a cornered fox. He looked pertrified,' said Whitby."

Whilst vigilance and the preservation of innocent life is paramount, we MUST take care we do not descend into the kind of 'justice' administered by Judge Dread - "I am the Law!"

UPDATE - Another eyewitness report describes the man shot as wearing '...a bomb belt with wires visible..'. Whilst this appears to justify the Police actions, I maintain that we should be careful about policies and instructions given to officers. A split second decision by a well-trained police officer is miles away from an official 'shoot to kill' policy.
